Ace radio presenter, Akumaa Mama Zimbi has advised Ghanaians to encourage widows to focus on moving on in life instead of reminiscing on their late husbands and enduring their families' unfair treatment. According to her, widows should be encouraged to establish their own trade, no matter how small, rather than wait for support from friends and family.
Mama Zimbi offered the advice at a get-together for widows organised by her company at the Be-Nice Restaurant in Tema. The event was held for the purpose of sensitizing society to the plight of widows, by reminding them that all women have the potential of becoming widows and that it is not by choice. In her speech, Akumaa urged women to learn to grow in self-confidence and develop new skills and make new friendships for economic gains. She also called on corporate institutions and individuals who have the concerns of widows at heart to support and help put smiles back on their faces.
